What does DCPD mean?

Direct Compensation Property Damage is an Ontario auto insurance coverage that can compensate an insured person for certain damage to their vehicle and contents when another identified driver is responsible, subject to Ontario rules and the policy.

DCPD is a specific Ontario concept. It should not be treated as a general Canadian insurance term that works identically in every province.

EXAMPLE

DCPD in practice

For a qualifying not-at-fault Ontario collision, DCPD can allow the insured person to claim certain property damage from their own insurer rather than the at-fault driver's insurer.
