What does Product Liability Insurance mean?

Liability protection for covered bodily injury or property-damage claims arising from products, including exposures faced by manufacturers and distributors and certain completed-work claims.

A business can face liability after a product has left its premises. Product liability can form part of a broader commercial liability program, but the actual policy wording determines what is insured.

EXAMPLE

Product Liability Insurance in practice

A customer alleges that a defective product caused property damage. The business reviews its product-liability or CGL wording to determine whether the allegation falls within coverage.
