Manitoba Basic Autopac: What MPI Auto Insurance Includes

Vehicles driven on Manitoba roads need valid registration and Autopac insurance. Basic Autopac creates the compulsory foundation and can be supplemented with optional protection.

Current as of August 31, 2026. This guide uses MPI and Manitoba regulatory material and explains the insurance structure rather than estimating a personal quote.
KEY POINTS
01

Basic Autopac is required for vehicles operated on Manitoba roads.

02

Basic coverage includes Personal Injury Protection Plan benefits, all-perils physical damage and third-party liability.

03

MPI also offers optional products such as lower deductibles and increased liability limits.

One compulsory package, several coverage functions

Basic Autopac combines injury protection, physical-damage protection and legal-liability protection. Those parts solve different problems, so the policy should not be understood as one single coverage limit.

All-perils is broader than collision alone

Basic all-perils coverage can respond to collision or upset and to non-collision causes such as theft, vandalism, hail and fire, subject to exclusions, insured value and the applicable deductible.

Optional coverage still matters

A driver may choose a lower deductible, more liability protection or other MPI optional products. Comparing policies therefore means looking beyond the mandatory Basic premium alone.

Measure your own policy

Public rate orders and insurance rules provide context. Your own renewal remains the personal benchmark, and it should be compared before attributing a change to one factor.
