Actual Cash Value Calculator
Explore a straight-line depreciation scenario using replacement cost, item age and assumptions you control.

Choose your own straight-line depreciation assumptions. Insurers may use a different item-specific method.
The model applies 10.0% per year for 4.0 years, capped at 80.0%. It is a user-defined scenario, not an insurer valuation.
Keep your inputs, result and assumptions together. Replace any example values before saving. Review the report to print it or save a PDF through your browser. The file is created on your device.
Formula used by this scenario
Total assumed depreciation equals item age multiplied by the annual depreciation percentage, limited by the cap you enter. The depreciation amount is subtracted from current replacement cost.
This helps test assumptions. It does not establish an item's condition, expected life, market value or the settlement basis in an insurance contract.
Replacement cost and actual cash value are different
Replacement-cost settlement can have conditions such as actually replacing the item and submitting proof within a stated period. Actual cash value can reflect depreciation. Read the policy wording and the adjuster's explanation for the real claim.
