Home Insurance Calculator Nova Scotia
Calculate a home insurance budget from a written premium, add separately priced endorsements and compare annual payment with instalments.

Calculate your insurance budget
Annual amounts in Canadian dollars (CAD). Use a 12-month quote or renewal.
Add separate coverage charges
Optional — leave blank if not separately priced. Do not add an amount already included in the main premium.
Count the deposit once. Remaining instalments must exclude it. Use the complete payment schedule, including charges in each payment.

What to compare in Nova Scotia
For a Nova Scotia property, ask how the offer distinguishes wind, inland flooding, sewer backup and coastal or storm-surge damage. Review exclusions and deductibles beside the premium; a weather risk named on this page is not evidence that it is covered. Note seasonal occupancy or rental use before comparing quotes.
Compare the same property use, valuation basis, limits, exclusions and deductibles. The coverage worksheet uses your rebuilding estimate; it does not estimate construction costs or use a home's sale price.

Compare your value estimate and policy limit
Replace the example figures with your own. This worksheet answers a different question from the premium budget above.
The entered policy limit is below the replacement-value estimate you entered.
Keep your inputs, result and assumptions together. Replace any example values before saving. Review the report to print it or save a PDF through your browser. The file is created on your device.
Formulas, sources and limits
Annual total = main premium + separate coverage premiums + separate annual taxes/fees. Monthly equivalent = annual total ÷ 12.
Payment-plan total = upfront payment + (remaining instalment × number of remaining instalments) + other plan charges.
All inputs must refer to the same 12-month period and coverage. No insurer rates, discounts or tax rates are inferred. Blank optional amounts are excluded.
An empty optional field is excluded; entering 0 records a zero amount. Use taxes and charges from your own offer. The province selects local references and guidance, not a price multiplier. No age, postal-code, revenue or other unsupported rating coefficients are used.
Common questions
Can this estimate my personal home insurance premium?
It calculates costs from the figures you supply. A personal price requires a provider's quote for the actual risk and selected coverage.
Is the monthly equivalent my actual payment?
The monthly equivalent is the annual total divided by 12. It is not a quoted monthly instalment. Enable the payment-plan comparison and enter the offered schedule to calculate its actual total.
Can I keep the result?
Yes. Download the text report or review the formatted preview before printing. Choose a PDF destination in your browser's print dialog if available.
