Coastal Flood & Erosion Insurance Risk in Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island is exposed to coastal flooding and erosion from sea-level rise, storms, tides and storm surge. Provincial mapping can identify property-level hazard context, but map exposure is not itself an insurance quote or proof that a specific water loss is covered.

Use CHRIS as a hazard tool, not a premium calculator
PEI's climate-hazard mapping helps identify areas exposed to coastal and inland flooding and erosion. It does not know the building replacement cost, insurer, deductible or policy endorsements, so Canada Rate Lab does not convert a map result into a premium estimate.
Coastal water can be treated differently from inland surface water
A property can be damaged by storm surge, tides, overland surface water or sewer backup. Those pathways can have different policy treatment. Coastal owners should ask specifically whether storm surge or tidal water is insured.
Erosion and insured property damage are not the same loss
Erosion can remove land gradually or during severe events. Home insurance is primarily designed around covered damage to insured property, so shoreline loss, land movement and protective works need their own wording review.
