ANNUAL RATE REVIEW

Every PEI auto insurer must apply to IRAC annually

IRAC has general supervision over automobile insurance rates and premiums in PEI. Annual filings can include rate levels, risk classifications, discounts, surcharges and underwriting-rule changes.

DCPD has been mandatory since October 1, 2015

For qualifying accidents, DCPD covers the not-at-fault portion of insured vehicle, contents and loss-of-use damage through the driver's own insurer. Collision remains relevant for the at-fault portion when purchased.

Use your actual renewal as the personal benchmark

Private insurers can have different approved rating systems. Compare the old and new premium with the same limits, deductibles, drivers, vehicle and optional coverage before attributing the change to one factor.
