How Saskatchewan Auto Insurance Rates Are Set
Saskatchewan's Basic auto pricing is unusual because SGI says the Auto Fund does not use age, gender or where a driver lives to determine the insurance cost. Vehicle risk, claim costs and driving record are central instead.

The vehicle matters more than a generic city average
Because SGI explicitly excludes age, gender and residence from Basic rating, a generic Regina-versus-Saskatoon premium page would be misleading without another documented price mechanism. Vehicle characteristics and driving record are more defensible research dimensions.
CLEAR is a vehicle-loss classification tool
SGI uses Canadian Loss Experience Automobile Rating information to align vehicle premiums more closely with claim costs. That does not mean one CLEAR number is a personal quote.
Rate review is a public process
SGI submits major rate proposals to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel, which reviews the proposal and makes recommendations before the government makes the final decision.
