SGI Auto Claims in Saskatchewan

Follow the claim lifecycle from evidence and reporting through responsibility, repair and total-loss valuation. Each stage uses different facts, so Canada Rate Lab keeps them separate.

Claim result ≠ premium forecast. A collision can affect a deductible and Safe Driver Recognition, but there is no honest single “your premium will rise X%” rule for every Saskatchewan driver.

Step 4Total loss if needed

Start with the claim facts

SGI asks drivers to collect the other driver's details, vehicle information, witnesses and photos where practical. After the claim is opened, SGI can arrange appraisal and assign an adjuster.

RESPONSIBILITY + SDR

Fault can change both the claim and the driver's safety rating

Responsibility can affect how much of a deductible the driver ultimately bears and can move the driver on SGI's Safe Driver Recognition scale. The SDR effect depends on the driver's starting point and the incident, not one universal surcharge percentage.

If the vehicle is written off

SGI says the total-loss decision considers repair cost, salvage value and the vehicle's market value immediately before the loss. Market value is researched using the vehicle's year, make, model, edition and condition rather than the remaining loan balance.
